Our Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) will support you in gaining skills to become a teacher in Further Education and Training (FET) sector.
Our PGCE courses prepare you to teach in the Further Education (FE) sector, including FE colleges, sixth-form colleges, adult education, and training organisations.
Designed for aspiring and current educators, the courses develop innovative FE teachers and future leaders who meet workforce needs and promote lifelong learning. The university successfully recruit trainees from diverse backgrounds, fostering inclusion and providing role models across a wide range of settings (Ofsted, 2023).
Our courses are available in both full-time and part-time modes to accommodate a range of professional circumstances.
To apply for a PGCE (FET) (Level 7) you will need a degree (2:2 or above) in a relevant subject.
In addition, you will need: GCSE Mathematics, GCSE English Language/ Literature at grade 4/C. Equivalent qualifications may be considered.
Graduates of this course can pursue a teaching career in the Further Education and Training sector.
Currently 85% of trainees get employment from the placement setting where they train during their study.
