Masters Degree Description

Our MSc Engineering Project Management blends the latest practice in project management with expertise from engineering disciplines, preparing you to lead complex, multidisciplinary projects across a range of sectors.  

Aligned with professional bodies such as the Association for Project Management (APM) and The Engineering Councilyou’ll acquire insight into industry requirements, giving you a strong perspective on how to shape your career in engineering project management. Put simply, this is a qualification that gets you ready to lead and innovate. 

Throughout the course, you’ll build a strong foundation in essential project management tools – from cost control and risk management to procurement systems and stakeholder communication – before advancing to the strategic delivery of large-scale, multi-team projects. 

You’ll also explore the engineering challenges of today and tomorrow, including sustainability, clean energy, and Industry 4.0. You’ll learn how to manage uncertainty in complex, evolving environments using agile methods and systems thinking, and how to balance time, cost, quality, and environmental impact in strategic decision-making. 

A highlight of the course is your individual research project, giving you the opportunity to apply your learning to real-world issues you’re interested in. With 100% of our research in engineering rated world-leading or internationally excellent (REF 2021), you’ll be guided by a team of research-active staff with expertise in both industry and academia. 

You’ll also engage in problem-based learning with live case studies provided by industry collaborators, giving you practical experience in evaluating project performance, engaging stakeholders and managing business change. 

Entry Requirements

You'll need a UK honours degree – at least a 2:2 – or the international equivalent, in engineering, physics, mathematics, computing or equivalent. Applicants with relevant and extensive professional experience in the relevant fields will be considered.
