Masters Degree Description

Our science-driven postgraduate degree is designed for individuals who are passionate about advancing equine athletic performance. Whether you’re aiming for a career in elite sports management rehabilitation nutrition or research this course offers the academic depth and hands-on experience to make a meaningful impact in the equine industry.

You’ll study the core scientific principles that underpin equine performance including gait evaluation injury pathophysiology and rehabilitation advanced nutrition equitation science and human influences on performance. With a focus on current research and innovative technologies you’ll learn how to assess monitor and enhance both performance and welfare in real-world contexts. You’ll benefit from our research- active teaching team who are not only academics but also industry specialists who support competitive horses in training.

By the time you graduate you’ll have more than just specialist knowledge you’ll be equipped with the leadership communication and problem-solving skills needed to thrive in a competitive and evolving equine sector. Entry Requirements

A first degree with honours in Equine Science or a related subject such as Animal Science Zoology Bioveterinary Science or Veterinary Nursing and at a minimum final classification of lower second (2:2). Degrees in therapy-related fields including Equine Sports Therapy Animal Therapy or Human Sports Therapy are also accepted. Applicants with a 2:1 or First-Class Honours degree in another science discipline are encouraged to apply.
If English is not your first language you will be expected to demonstrate a certificated level of proficiency of at least IELTS 6.5 ( Academic level) or equivalent English Language qualification as recognised by Anglia Ruskin University.

Student Destinations

As a graduates of the MSc Equine Performance Science you can pursue careers in elite equine sports performance management rehabilitation and therapy equine nutrition consultancy equine science research or welfare assessment. Opportunities also exist in academia rider and coach support roles and within governing bodies or commercial sectors focused on performance enhancement and innovation.
