Course Description

his course is delivered online, so you have the opportunity to study from anywhere in the world. Facilities management provides an organisation with many support services at an appropriate cost in order to support core business activity.



Facilities managers must be able to exercise skills in effective service provision and monitoring, as well as demonstrate an understanding of business strategy, cost control, people management and property related issues.



Our course will enhance your abilities in the identification and evaluation of appropriate decision-making strategies, and to develop research capability and cognitive skills which enable you to analyse and resolve problems in your profession.

You will be developing your expertise in a sector which remains in a strong position – health and safety, risk management and business continuity will be paramount as facilities managers focus their strategy on maintaining their organisation’s core business and meeting legislative requirements.

Entry Requirements

Applicants should either have at least a second class honours degree or have equivalent experience or training, normally from within the facilities management work environment. All applications should be supported by a reference, either academic or professional. All applicants should satisfy our University English language requirements. 
 
IELTS 6.0 with no skills below 5.5, or an equivalent qualification. The University provides excellent support for any applicant who may be required to undertake additional English language courses.

Module Details

You will develop a structured dissertation on a topic of relevance to the course, enhancing your skills in analysis, reflection, application, organisation and planning.

You will develop an in-depth understanding of the scope of facilities operations management within an organisation, as well as its contribution to core business.

Equips you with various tools, techniques and theories to assist you in senior management roles and enables you to direct corporate olicies in property and services related areas.

Prepares students for the preparation and presentation of academic research and equips students for the development of independent professional research.

Evaluates the role of facilities in support of core business operations and develop provision by developing an awareness of the range of options and processes appropriate to their effective procurement.

Examines the role of a project manager in the co-ordination of assorted inputs of professional skills necessitated by the design and production of complex projects to satisfy client objectives.

Buildings have a great impact on the environment. Students learn about controlling the internal and external building environmental effects; and strategies for the efficient use buildings.

Evaluates strategies for corporate real estate management by considering and evaluating designs, occupation and disposal. You will learn how to undertake financial appraisals, manage space and utilise property as an asset.
