Course Description

There is an ever increasing need for nurses who are able to adapt and respond to local and international health policy drivers while providing a consistently high standard of care. If you are a nurse working overseas who would like to practice in the UK, or if you are a nurse in the UK looking to work abroad, then our course is ideal for you.



It is based on the five core principles of the WHO Global Advisory Group for nursing and midwifery practice. As a result, you will increase your critical skills in practice, advance your academic skills, enhance your leadership and management abilities,

Entry Requirements

Applicants should normally have at least a second class honours degree in a health related subject and English Language and Maths GCSE at grade C or equivalent. All applicants should also have a first level registered nursing qualification and recent or ongoing employment in a health care setting as a registered nurse. All suitable candidates will be required to attend an interview as part of the selection process. All applications should be supported by a reference from your current or previous employer.

English Language Requirement: IELTS 7.0 with no skills below 7.0, or an equivalent qualification. The University provides excellent support for any applicant who may be required to undertake additional English language courses.

Successful completion of the course may enhance promotion prospects for more senior posts where a higher level academic qualification is deemed essential. Module Details

Critically reflect on your past experience, identifying future learning needs in the context of your role in shaping current health and social care policy and practice.

You will be introduced to the global nature of health and health policy, within the context of a globalising world. You’ll use contemporary issues and topics to analyse health issues and policy processes.

Develop autonomy in your professional and academic development in a specific area of practice, related to international nursing and/or international health care provision.

Explore different types of information about health and social care and critically evaluate research material from a range of study designs.

Produce a substantial research project on a self-selected topic of interest, demonstrating your developmental learning in addition to a variety of academic and practical skills.

Be intorduced to an advanced level of study in leadership and management from both theoretical and practice perspectives, including a critical evaluation of theories, models and styles of leadership and management.
