Masters Degree Description
The LLM in Legal Practice enables students to gain an understanding of the functioning of legal knowledge to either undertake the Solicitors Qualifying Exam (SQE) Part 1 or to progress to a career at the Bar.

Entry Requirements
A Bachelors Honours degree with 2:2 in any subject, or equivalent.
If English is not your first language you’ll need IELTS (Academic) 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in writing and 5.5 in all other components of speaking, listening and reading.

Module Details
Semester one
Core Modules
- The Citizen & the State: This unit is designed to develop your critical understanding of the legal relationship between citizens and the government in the UK for the purposes of the Solicitors’ Qualifying Examination (SQE). You will be expected to evaluate the legal system through the constitutional principles that underpin the UK democracy.
- Obligations: This unit is designed to develop your critical understanding of the core principles of contract law and the core principles of tort law for the purposes of the Solicitors’ Qualifying Examination (SQE). You will be expected to evaluate these legal principles and apply them to legal practice scenarios.
- Criminal Law & Practice: You will be expected to understand, apply and critique (a) the core principles of criminal law, (b) the substantive offences and defences examined on the SQE and (c) the professional practice of criminal law.
Semester two

- Trusts, Wills & the Administration of the Estate
- Property Law & Practice
Option (choose to either complete the Dissertation OR to study all three other units)
- Dissertation (For those intending to progress to a career at the Bar)
- Legal Practice Research Project

- Legal Services, Solicitors Accounts & Ethics
