Masters Degree Description

Deepen your engagement with theology in ways that will enhance your practice, enabling you to reflect critically on faith in the contemporary context.

Choose our Theology (MTh) programme to extend and deepen your existing knowledge and understanding of Christian theology.

Our research-led teaching in contemporary approaches to Christian theology will equip you to think theologically in today’s world. During your studies, you’ll develop your creative and critical engagement with Christian theology and explore relationships between complex theory and changing practice. You’ll also be able to enhance your skills of reflective practice in Christian ministry and related areas of practice, with opportunities to relate your studies directly to issues arising in your own context and practice.

Entry Requirements

In order to be considered for an offer for this programme you will need to meet all of the entry requirements. Your application will not be progressed if the information and evidence listed is not provided.

With your online application you will need to provide:

A copy of your degree certificate and transcripts which show you have achieved a 2:2 honours degree in a relevant subject area such as religious studies, theology, or an equivalent international degree. If your degree certificate or result is pending, please upload any interim transcripts or provisional certificates.
A copy of your IELTS certificate with an overall score of 6.5 with 6.0 in all subskills, or evidence of an accepted equivalent. Please include the date of your expected test if this qualification is pending. If you have alternative acceptable evidence, such as an undergraduate degree studied in the UK, please supply this in place of an IELTS.

It is rooted in the realities and complexities of issues facing churches today. Modules are taught in a way that reflects that context, and assessments encourage you to relate theory to practice.

This is an ideal programme for enhancing your professional practice in Christian ministry, whether this is something you are already engaged in or preparing for in the future. Whatever your current or future employment may be, the programme will develop valuable skills that will resource your professional practice: creativity and originality, self-motivation and reflexivity, responding to feedback, managing uncertainty, analysing problems from different perspectives, communication of complex ideas, and the ability to reflect on social, ethical, and environmental responsibilities.
