Course Description

We provide academic and professional development for experienced ELT practitioners who are looking to advance their careers within the profession. Successful completion offers automatic entry onto semester two of the MA English Language Teaching (if desired). 



You will increase your knowledge through observed teaching practice with feedback from tutors and enhance your understanding of aspects such as language, methodology and an ELT specialism. 



All of our English language courses are taught by highly qualified and experienced teachers. We are an approved Cambridge Delta Centre. This prestigious professional qualification for English language teachers confers TEFL-Qualified status as defined by the British Council accreditation scheme. 

Entry Requirements

Applicants should either have a second class honours degree and at least two years’ full-time English Language Teaching experience or have substantial English Language Teaching work experience. Applicants who do not have English as their first language are required to have IELTS 7.5 with no skill below 7.0 or an equivalent award. All suitable applicants will be interviewed by an approved DELTA trainer. All applications should be supported by a reference, either academic or professional; all applicants should satisfy our University English language requirements.

Student Destinations

This course offers the opportunity to gain a recognised ELT qualification and TEFL-Qualified status. You can also develop expertise in a specialist area such as ESOL, English for Academic Purposes, Teaching English to Young Learners or Content and Language Integrated Learning. Successful completion entitles you to two qualifications, both the Postgraduate Certificate and the internationally recognised Cambridge Delta qualification.
