University Information

Writtle University College is one of the one of the oldest specialist institutions in the UK and has been putting science into practice through industry focused programmes since 1893.

Offering a range of land-based, animal, sport and health courses, it is located in the beautiful village of Writtle, close to the city of Chelmsford. As a small and supportive community, Writtle offers extensive specialist facilities that students will use to apply their theoretical learning.  Taught by respected practitioners in their field, courses that are innovative and aligned to future skill gaps and opportunities.

Subjects at postgraduate include: Veterinary Physiotherapy, Equine Science, Animal Welfare, Conservation Education and Engagement, Landscape Architecture, Agribusiness, Crop Production, Post-Harvest Technology, Horticulture and Sport Exercise and Nutrition. On a campus of around 150 hectares, specialist facilities include an animal centre with around 200 species, a canine therapy centre, dedicated equine campus, working farm, centre of sport and health, science laboratories, research greenhouses, alongside halls of residence, restaurant, bar and learning hubs.

In 2022, the institution was ranked ‘top university provider in the East of England for overall student satisfaction’ and is well ahead of the sector average for learning opportunities, assessment and feedback and academic support.

Applications are welcomed from both international and home students and there are a range of scholarships and bursaries on offer.
