Course Description

Our MEd in Clinical Education is a three year part time course which develops your skills and understanding of the core concepts of Clinical Education. Here, you will:

  • debate and discuss the central themes and issues in clinical education
  • explore the differences between clinical and educational research
  • undertake introductory research training in educational research
  • design and conduct small-scale empirical research on a topic relevant to the clinical education workplace.

Our course is part time and rooted in workplace learning, encouraging you to make critical and creative connections between your own – and your students’ – practice and theoretical perspectives on teaching, learning and assessment.

There are two compulsory modules in the first year (PGCert year) and these are delivered using flexible blended learning. There are also two compulsory modules in the second year (PGDip year) which all students need to complete in a specified order. However, the second year of our course is delivered completely online. In your final year (MEd year), you’ll complete a dissertation with support from an academic supervisor completely online.
