This MSc Global Leadership and Management in Healthcare can be studied as part of the Senior Leader Apprenticeship. To access this route you must be working in a management or leadership position and be sponsored by your organisation. As an apprentice you are employed while studying part-time for this MSc, and will need to evidence 20% off the job learning.
The course is a distinctive course in its field. It focuses on developing the global mindset, a leadership and management concept applicable across global health systems. The World Health Organization identifies ‘using a global mindset for local issues’. This course enables you to develop these skills, knowledge and behaviours required to embrace a global mindset and to lead and manage safe, high-quality and effective healthcare.
In modern healthcare systems, leaders need to be able to influence and support a multicultural workforce and to lead innovations and improvements within their area of practice. As a healthcare leader and manager you need skills in flexibility, adaptability, critical thinking, creativity and confidence to work within complex, interconnected and global-influenced healthcare environments.
You will normally have an honours degree (2.2 classification or above) in a health or social care-related subject, in leadership, or management, or hold an equivalent professional qualification acceptable to the School of Health & Life Sciences. You will also be considered for entry if you do not meet these criteria if you have significant management experience and/or a record of achievement in business and leadership. Applicants whose first language is not English will need to satisfy the English language requirements, which are a minimum overall score of IELTS 6.5. In addition to the above, if you wish to study the MSc Global Leadership and Management in Health Care as part of the Senior Leaders Apprenticeship you must be nominated by your employer. The employing organisation will set the selection criteria for your apprenticeship (such as previous or management experience, length of time within management post or qualifications). You must demonstrate achievement of English and maths at a minimum of Level 2 as within the general apprenticeship requirements.
