Course Description

A qualifying Law degree, recognised by the Law Society and the Bar, enabling those who wish to become Lawyers to obtain the necessary academic exemptions for entry into the legal profession. LLB Honours Law develops skills which will benefit you both educationally and vocationally. You will acquire skills associated with the law including the ability to: •Research and sift material from the original sources •Relate law to factual situations •Critically analyse the law and the policies that underpin it •Argue clearly. This degree includes modules designed to develop a range of transferable skills relevant to any career, especially written and verbal communication skills.

Entry Requirements

The LLM begins with induction in mid-September. There will be a range of sessions introducing the course, library resources, the option modules (with a view to assisting you in your choice of options), research skills and general orientation sessions. You will also be allocated personal tutors. We strongly recommend that you attend the induction – if you do not, you could miss essential information about the course, orientation events, and the opportunity to settle into the Law School with the other new students. Following induction at the beginning of the course in September, you will study a series of elective modules, followed by a dissertation in the final semester. Semesters one and two During semester one and two, you select a range of 15 or 30 credit optional modules in accordance with your interests and needs (worth a total of 120 credits). All modules involve the submission of written assignments.
