MSc Machine Intelligence (Computer Engineering)

  • DeadlineStudy Details:

    MSc 2 years full-time, 120 ECTS, Aalborg

Course Description

The Machine Intelligence master’s programme enables the students to design, implement and analyse intelligent systems. Particular emphasis is placed on probabilistic methods for intelligent decision making and learning, and on techniques for intelligent web-based systems. Courses provide the necessary foundation in Machine Intelligence as well as other core subjects for a graduate level computer science education. A significant part of the studies consists of projects conducted in small groups of students. A project will typically include more in-depth study of particular methods and techniques, and their practical application, e.g., in computer game design, intelligent web-based services, or data mining.

The programme is managed by the Machine Intelligence Group, an internationally recognized research group with core research areas in uncertainty in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and web intelligence.

Graduates of the master’s programme in Machine Intelligence will typically obtain a job in the IT industry, or continue with an academic career.

Although each application is assessed individually, the following are minimal requirements for admission:

1. A solid computer science background that includes courses on:
   1. Theory of Computation (Automata Theory, Computability, Turing Machines)
   2. Computer Systems (Processors, Memories etc.)
   3. Algorithms and Data Structures (Lists, Trees, Graphs, sorting, searching, complexity)
   4. Object Oriented Analysis and Dsign (UML etc.)
   5. Object Oriented Programming (Java or C++)
   6. Programming Languages and Semantics
   7. Compiling Techniques
   8. Operating Systems
   9. Concurrent Programming
   10. Networks

2. In addition, we require undergraduate mathematics as found in science or engineering degrees.

3. Some programming and design experience.

4. A decent grade, e.g. First Class – we would like to think that you are at least in the top 25% of your class.

It is a great help, if your application explains, why you satisfy these requirements.
