Course Description

This MA scheme draws on the existing strengths of the Department in the field of British history from the Norman Conquest to the Reformation, in particular its strength in the history of thirteenth century England (in which the Department hosts a leading annual international conference). It offers you the opportunity to investigate British history within a wider European context and from a variety of thematic angles encompassing political, cultural, economic, and social and religious history. A programme of intensive Latin and paleography training is integral to the scheme.

Entry Requirements

A minimum of a 2.2 (UK) (or above) equating to a mark of 56.5 or above in a relevant subject area. European and International applicants can find their grade equivalence on our website. Prospective Master’s students should ensure that they have arranged with referees for their references to be available as required.

English Language Requirements: If you have a Bachelor’s degree from a UK University, you do not need to take an English proficiency test. Non-native English speakers who do not meet this requirement must take a University-recognised test of academic English language proficiency.
