    PGCE 10 months full-time

Course Description

Develop a deeper knowledge and understanding of working with children with disabilities, and gain experience in mainstream and special school settings, with our PGCE Primary with Special Educational Needs.

Our Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) Primary (5–11) with Special Educational Needs Pathway leads to the award of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), qualifying you to teach children aged five to 11 with disabilities.

This pathway will enable you to develop a deeper knowledge and understanding of working with children with disabilities, within mainstream and special school settings. You will undertake placements in mainstream schools with additional resources units, as well as special schools.

Entry Requirements

You are normally required to have at least a 2:2 honours degree, or equivalent from a university outside the UK.

You will need to have achieved Grade 4 (or C) or above in GCSE Mathematics, English Language and a Science subject, or equivalent qualifications.

You will also need to demonstrate competence in Fundamental English and mathematics by the end of the course. This is a new DfE requirement which replaces the QTS skills tests in literacy and numeracy.

If you accept an offer with us you will also be required to successfully complete Occupational Health and Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) Enhanced Disclosure checks.
