Course Description

The MEd in Professional Education is a programme of teacher preparation for health and social care professionals.

The overarching aim of the programme is to produce a competent, independent educator capable of promoting the development and delivery of professional education across a variety of settings within an inter-professional and inter-agency context.

For nurses, midwives and health visitors, successful completion of the programme leads to an approved teacher entry on the Professional Register of nurses, midwives and health visitors.

Features:

This is an interprofessional programme for health and social care practitioners who have an educational focus within their roles. Students are encouraged to assume responsibility for their own learning, as well as for the utilisation of learning resources available to them.

Varied teaching and learning strategies are employed in meeting programme objectives. There is some didactic teaching, but emphasis is placed on group work, discussion, blended learning, seminar presentations, project work and case discussions.

This programme is delivered at the Riverside Campus in Chester.

Entry Requirements

Applicants should have a degree or equivalent, which will normally be 2:1 or above. Candidates without a first degree but with exceptional professional experience and evidence of the ability to study at Master’s level will also be considered.

Contemporary professional experience with access to learners is also required.

If English is not their first language, applicants will need to have a minimum score of IELTS 6.5, with no less than 6.5 in each band.
