Course Description

Property surveying is a diverse and exciting career choice that can give you the opportunity to travel the world and meet a wide range of people. Graduates from this programme now work globally in leading advisory roles for consultancy firms, financial institutions, banks and national governments. Although typically office based, you will have the opportunity to spend a great deal of time meeting people and visiting landmark buildings. Many surveyors travel extensively both nationally and across many parts of the globe.

This particular programme combines the theoretical rigour of a mainstream finance degree or MBA programme with a specialist focus on and direct application to real estate.

Entry Requirements

 

Postgraduate Masters

  • Bachelor’s Honours Degree A good first or second class Honours degree (in a cognate or semicognate discipline).
  • Professional/Corporate Membership Membership of a professional institution in a cognate discipline that normally requires an Honours degree for entry.

Postgraduate Diploma

  • Bachelor’s Honours Degree A third class Honours degree in a cognate or semi-cognate discipline PLUS two years of relevant post-qualification work experience at a suitable level.
  • Bachelor’s Degree An Ordinary degree in a cognate or semi-cognate discipline PLUS three to four years of relevant post-qualification work experience at a suitable level.
  • Applicants who do not meet the above entry requirements or who have no formal academic qualifications will be considered individually based on their CV and an interview process and may enter the PGDip route. Admission via this route is at the discretion of the director of studies and for a limited number of applicants only.

Module Details

The programme comprises eight core study courses, with part-time students typically taking two courses per semester and full-time students completing four courses per semester.

  • Macroeconomics, Finance and the Built Environment

  • Real Estate Development
  • Real Estate Investment Analysis
  • International Property Markets and Investment

In addition to the taught courses, students pursuing the MSc qualification undertake a research dissertation project based on a property related theme or topic.
