    PGCE 10 months full-time

Course Description

With our PGCE Secondary Education with Drama, you will address all aspects of teaching secondary drama, develop the skills and knowledge valued by employers, and benefit from our custom-built, first-class facilities.

This Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) Secondary Drama course leads to the award of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), qualifying you to teach the 11-18 age group in secondary schools in England and Wales.

This course is consistently evaluated as excellent in both internal and external reviews and encompasses a variety of approaches to drama and theatre teaching in relation to a key stage 3 drama curriculum and GCSE and A level exam specifications whilst also exploring the role of drama for the individual within the complexities of life in the 21st century. The course provides a theoretical framework for teaching drama within schools and is rooted in embodied practice.

Entry Requirements

You are normally required to have at least a 2:2 honours degree (or equivalent from a university outside the UK) in a subject that is related to the subject you intend to teach.

Student Destinations

The majority of our graduates go into schools and inspire children to develop into happy, confident and well-informed individuals. Other alumni take their educational skills to the worlds of business, culture, art, healthcare, human resources, adult learning and further varied fields.

The support and training we give our students enables them to develop into resilient and creative teachers with the ability to adapt. The transferable skills and strengths they develop are also recognised outside of education, and are therefore desirable in many different areas of employment.

The placement opportunities and careers support we give our students ensures they are attractive to employers. This is qualified by the consistently high employment rates our students enjoy in local and regional schools.
