This course is offered on a non-modular basis; emphasis on practical teaching provides students with a broad range of teaching experience in different schools; successful completion leads to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) subject to satisfactory performance in skills tests and 60 credits at Master’s level; course includes an extensive 24 weeks of placement in 2 schools; at university sessions students discuss experiences with others on the course and learn more about the theory and practice of teaching.
Appropriate 2.2 Honours degree or equivalent; GCSE grade C or equivalent in English language, mathematics and science subject; A-levels relevant to the National Curriculum are preferred; applicants should gain recent experience, in school, with children of the age range that they wish to teach. Applicants must have achieved an A-Level or gained considerable experience working with or using Spanish. In certain circumstances we may be able to take into account any experience of living/working in a country which speaks Spanish. Linguistic skills will be assessed at the interview stage to ascertain suitability.
