This course aims to provide students with an understanding of the political issues and controversies addressed by modern and contemporary political theorists; an understanding of different normative and epistemological perspectives and of how these affect political debate and policy; skills in qualitative and quantitative methods and research design which equips them to proceed to a research degree in this or related social science areas; and a grasp of theoretical argument and analytical techniques which enables them to undertake employment as public policy professionals.
Good Honours degree (minimum 2.1) in Humanities or Social Sciences or equivalent overseas qualification; plus satisfactory evidence of ability in English language if a non-native speaker; qualification in or some knowledge of social, political or legal philosophy would be an advantage.
