Course Description

The MSc in Applied Public Health is an innovative course which provides a relevant and engaging learning experience for anyone whose work includes some responsibility for the determinants of health. The course has been designed to meet the needs of a wide range of professionals working to achieve improvements in health. It aims to provide participants with the opportunity to develop the skills required to meet existing and emerging challenges in public health.

This postgraduate course covers a range of public health disciplines including health improvement, health protection, research methods, healthy settings, media and communication, epidemiology and global, international, national and local issues relating to public health. There is a strong emphasis on appropriate tools and techniques, evidence based approaches and the application of theory to public health practice.

Entry Requirements

A recognised British honours degree to a good standard, or its equivalent.

These include career advancement of practitioners already working in public health, and may facilitate progression toward the requirements for registration as a Specialist Practitioner in Public Health. Public health work experience opportunities are also available to students undertaking this course.
