Course Description

The Business with Financial Management course at Robert Gordon University is targeted at aspiring and current managers who want to develop their managerial competences with an enhanced understanding of finance theory and corporate financial management. You will develop a range of strategic and finance skills relevant for business decision making within a global environment.

It will provide you with the theories, tools and techniques to support the practical management of a business, including in an international context whilst also supporting you to gain an immediately applicable skillset in the key aspect of financial management.

Applicants normally hold a 2:2 undergraduate honours degree or its equivalent in any subject discipline.

Student Destinations

This course is for new graduates or experienced professionals who wish to have a career in business. You may be from a non-relevant (ie. non business) academic or professional background. It is also for those already working in business, at a junior or middle manager level, and seeking to progress their career with reinforced skills in financial management. If you are looking to enter this field and have no relevant formal qualifications, this course will allow you to gain the necessary expertise.

Module Details

Stage 1

You will increase your understanding of how and why business operates, and focus on finance theory and the behaviour of financial markets. You will develop your knowledge of the basic elements and techniques of change and resilience as well as reinforce your professional and transferable skills in interpersonal communication and teamwork.

Stage 2

You will strengthen your expertise in the use of tools and techniques supporting the management of the finances and resources of a business and how they can influence strategic decision-making. You will add to your awareness and understanding of business economics and develop your appreciation of the strategic decisions required in an international context.

Stage 3

The Capstone module is designed to provide you with an opportunity to integrate master’s level knowledge and skills by independently working on an applied academic study or business consultancy project from a degree related discipline. This can take the form of a business plan.

Extended Master’s

We offer an extended Master’s route, starting in September, on our traditional 1-year route which incorporates a 12 month placement.
