About the programme

With this online, part-time MSc, you’ll examine the motivations behind online deviant behaviours and work to understand what leads people to act in harmful or illegal ways.

Through an engaging mix of learning activities, the course will help you develop the analytical abilities and social awareness needed to help address cybercrime on an international level.

You’ll be given the opportunity to collaborate with specialists in the field through the University of Portsmouth’s Cybercrime Awareness Clinic, as well as the institute’s affiliations with the National Cyber Security Centre and various organised crime units.

The core modules you’ll study will be:

  • Cybercrime: Critical Perspectives
  • Regulating Power Conflicts in Cyberspace
  • The Global Landscape of Cybersecurity
  • Research Methods and Research Ethics
  • Dissertation

Entry Requirements

  • A second-class honours degree, or equivalent, in a relevant subject or a Master’s degree in an appropriate subject
  • Equivalent professional experience and/or qualifications will also be considered
  • Evidence of English language proficiency for applicants who don’t speak it as a first language: IELTS level 6.5 with no component score below 6.5 (or other proof accepted by the university)
