This course can extend your existing knowledge of applied linguistics so you learn to effectively teach English as a foreign language.
Master’s programme provides specialist professional development for English Language teachers – or teachers to be – with a focus on both the theory and practice of teaching English as a Foreign Language (ELT/TESOL) in a variety of contexts – for example from lower intermediate (B1) level in adult settings in the UK to higher intermediate level (B2) in Higher Education settings in China or Nigeria, depending on the learners’ needs and wants.
Whether you are a recent graduate or an experienced teacher, students engage in innovative teaching techniques and digital learning tools, such as learning to learn with Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). You will observe English classes within the University and undertake microteaching practice. You will also have the opportunity to volunteer to teach English to adults and/or teach your own language on the Linguae Mundi programme as a paid placement.
