Course Description

This programme will provide you with the opportunity to develop confidence and skills to apply the principles of practitioner-based enquiry within your own work settings in order to initiate beneficial changes to the organisations in which you work.

WHY THIS PROGRAMME

  • This programme is designed for people at different stages in their professional careers from a range of backgrounds in education and allied fields such as social work, psychology, health and policing.
  • There is a focus on collaborative learning, drawing on your own experiences and those of your academic colleagues.
  • The programme will help you develop evidence-based leadership approaches and practices in critical reflection that you can apply in relation to your own practice.
  • Research-informed courses will help you to consider practice and policy in the light of current educational thinking, and enable you to improve your own practice to become an effective practitioner. Our optional courses ‘Critical perspectives on knowledge and power’ and ‘Critical thinking and communication’ will consolidate your learning.
  • Our ‘Working in an interagency environment’ course is one of the only available courses of its kind outside UK local government. Some of the courses on this programme use a blended-learning approach offering a learner-centred approach with increased flexibility and convenience.

Entry Requirements

2.1 Honours degree or equivalent qualification in education, sociology, psychology, social work or related subject. Applicants with a lower second honours degree may be accepted, if warranted by strong references and/or relevant work experience.
