Course Description

Our Higher Education Practice course is ideal if you are a practitioner working within, or have access to, a Higher Education (HE) or equivalent setting and wish to further develop your skills and knowledge within the diverse and changing contexts of contemporary Higher Education.

This course delivers academic qualifications and preparation for professional accreditation and uses practical, task-oriented activities that participants apply to their own educational context.

Entry Requirements

An undergraduate degree in a related discipline.

Please note that international (non-EU) students can apply for the fully online option only.

Student Destinations

Our course will provide you with professional learning and development opportunities. As such, you will exit our course at your desired stage with enhanced understanding of and expertise in practice and/or research within your chosen specialist areas of HE and will be better placed, both nationally and globally, to enter or advance your practice in an internationalised HE market equipped with the relevant professional skills.

Module Details

The Certificate phase comprises the following core modules:

  • Theory, Practice and Professional Identity (20 credits)
  • Innovation into Practice (40 credits)

The Diploma phase consists of the following core module:

  • Contemporary Issues in Higher Education: global and local

 And two from the following option list:

  • Internationalisation: issues and approaches
  • Leadership Matters in HE
  • Supervisory Research Practice
  • Research Methods (core if you are progressing to Master’s)
  • 21st Century Pedagogies
  • Human Rights, Gender and the University

The Master’s phase comprises a dissertation, in consultation with the course leader.
