Course Description

This Master’s course in human resource management has been designed primarily to meet the career development needs of human resource (HR) managers, advisers and administrators.

 
Here at the University of West London, you will be encouraged to take a critical perspective on current theory and practice throughout the course. You will learn to analyse complex problems and to devise creative solutions to those problems – and you’ll develop all the skills you need to conduct research into HRM issues.
 
The MA course also meets the Advanced Level knowledge requirements of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) for entry into a professional membership grade.

Entry Requirements

A 1st or 2nd class honours degree (2:1 and 2:2, upper and lower class) in any discipline.

CIPD level 5 qualifications – with a minimum of 2 years HR or Management experience.

If you are a HR practitioner with at least five years’ experience, but do not hold the qualifications mentioned above, we will assess your application on individual merit through an interview and an essay.

When you pass, you can apply for individual Chartered Membership of the CIPD. This grade of membership is regarded as essential for progression into HR management and consultancy. Anecdotal evidence suggests that students who complete this course, and thereby gain professional membership of the CIPD, are successful in furthering their careers in the HR profession.
