MA Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy

  • DeadlineStudy Details:

    MA 3 years (part-time)

Course Description

This programme provides the training in counselling and psychotherapy necessary to become eligible for BACP (British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy) individual practitioner accreditation.

The course, accredited by the BACP, is based on an integrative relational approach to counselling and psychotherapy, which has been developed over many years by our cutting-edge teaching team. Our integrative approach, at the forefront of counselling and psychotherapy theory, practice and research, incorporates aspects from three main therapeutic traditions; person-centred, cognitive and psychodynamic. You will be encouraged to explore psychological processes and experiences from these different perspectives, and recognise the theoretical, personal and cultural assumptions which influence your work.

Entry Requirements

Any one of the following is required for entry:

  • a relevant second-class honours degree (or above) (eg social science)
  • any second-class honours degree plus basic counselling skills or training/experience
  • a relevant professional qualification – (eg social work, nursing, teaching, youth work).

In exceptional circumstances, candidates without a degree or professional qualification may be considered if they can demonstrate equivalent relevant learning and experience together with the ability to write to the required standard. Presentation of a portfolio of the candidate’s work plus evidence of relevant experience will be required. Experience of working in a helping role is desirable for all applicants and required for those without any formal qualifications. Evidence of reflective capacity and commitment to their personal development is required for all candidates. Due to this course being part-time, it is not suitable for international students.
