Course Description

The Master of Research is an inter-disciplinary PG Research degree offered across all schools at The Glasgow School of Art. It combines a programme of supervised and directed research exploration and preparatory tailored research training alongside a substantial component of self-directed, individual research. Students are encouraged to take the opportunity to work on live projects. This pioneering programme is aimed at both those who wish to build research skills and practice and those who work within professional or commercial environments who wish to enhance their research practice. The Master of Research enables students to develop practical knowledge and research skills experience.

Module Details

The scope of this programme is the design, delivery and communication of a discrete research project. This is a 180-credit programme.

The underpinning principles of the programme include: a focus on independent research activity with potential location of that activity in practical environments: in communities, businesses, government or in the public sector. The outputs will be reflective of current research needs and will recognise the importance of research-in-practice and knowledge exchange.
