Course Description

This course has been designed for graduates (from any degree subject background) who would like to become a nurse. The PgDip Nursing (Mental Health) course at the University of West London offers an exciting, rewarding and challenging career. You will support people with a wide range of mental health conditions such as:

– anxiety
– depression
– stress-related illness
– personality disorders
– psychotic disorders i.e. Schizophrenia, Bipolar Affective Disorder
– dementia
– eating disorders
– drug and alcohol addiction.

As a student studying mental health nursing you will achieve a PgDip Nursing (Mental Health) and become registered as a Mental Health Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

 

Entry Requirements

You must have a first degree 2:2 or above (in any subject), plus two GCSEs including English and Mathematics at grade C or above; or equivalent, evidence of literacy and numeracy at Level 2.

You need to show evidence of recent study in the last five years.

After studying to become a mental health nurse, you will need to be committed to lifelong learning, ensuring your skills and knowledge remain up to date.

To maintain your registration to practice with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, you’ll need to go through the process of revalidation, every three years. The process is straightforward and will help you to demonstrate safe and effective practise.
