If you’re Looking to get into or build on your existing knowledge and skills in the exciting area of football medicine or implement programmes to support elite football players, you may want to consider one of our football courses. Using the skills you learn on either of these courses, you could follow your dreams into football medicine or management, working in academies or with elite players to develop fitness and performance.
Our courses have suitable facilities to support the learning on your course. You could be using our professional sport and exercise science facilities, including fully equipped British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES) accredited physiology lab, marking it as one of the UK’s leading sport and exercise science facilities, psychology and biomechanics labs or our health and exercise gyms.
We also have a new sports complex, featuring two sports halls, two fitness studios, strength and conditioning and high-performance gyms, health and fitness and personal training teaching gyms, and a sport and exercise therapy clinic.
You’ll have the opportunity to either enrol onto BASES Supervised Experience, the recognised path to full BASES-accredited Sport and Exercise Scientist and Chartered Scientist status or undertake the FA level 4 Intermediate Trauma Medical Management in Football (ITMMiF) as part of this course.
The courses have excellent links with professional football clubs, and the University is Official University partner of Southampton FC. The courses are informed by extensive links with key industry partners, such as the Football Association, BASES, the Premier League, various professional Football League clubs, and leading wearable technology companies. In addition, they draw on the expertise of current practitioners who, through our renowned guest lecture and seminar programme, add vital applied insights from the world of football.
We have several academic scholarships available which are rewarded based on your entry grades. We also offer a sport scholarship to those competing at national or international level in their sport.
