University Information

The Migraine Trust, founded in 1965, is a registered charity in England and Wales (1081300) and Scotland (SC042911).

We lead the fight against migraine in the UK by focusing on:

– Funding and promoting research

– Offering practical support and evidence-based information

– Raising awareness and campaigning on behalf of those affected.

As part of our commitment to advancing migraine research we award research grants with particular focus on studentships and fellowships. This is in recognition that encouraging researchers into this field and supporting their training and career development is vital for the future outlook of migraine.

Our research programme is overseen by our Board of Trustees with advice from our Scientific Research Committee, which consists of scientific and medical experts and lay representatives. We are a member of the Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC) and have passed the AMRC best practice in medical and health research peer review audit. We are a non-commercial partner of the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR).

We also host the Migraine Trust International Symposium (MTIS), the world’s longest established headache conference. Taking place every two years, MTIS brings together clinicians and scientists to share latest research findings, and to debate and exchange ideas.
