Masters Degree Description

On our Financial Economics (MSc) programme you’ll get a thorough grounding in the core principles of economics and finance, combined with the skills to ensure professional and academic success.

Integrating advanced training in microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics, and financial economics with cutting-edge computational tools, you’ll develop the knowledge and skills to critically evaluate complex financial systems and policy environments.

You’ll explore a broad range of topics, including financial markets, corporate finance, behavioural finance and international economics.

Our flagship Trading Room will expose you to cutting-edge trading simulations. This 56-seat capacity trading floor is one of the largest in the UK and provides you with the opportunity to gain invaluable practical skills. An optional Bloomberg certification is also available.

As a Financial Economics (MSc) graduate, you’ll be able to apply economic reasoning, evaluate financial data, and conduct independent research to address practical and policy-relevant problems. You’ll be well equipped for careers in finance, economic consultancy, central banking or international institutions, as well as for further academic research.

Entry Requirements

To be considered for an offer for this programme you will need to meet all of the entry requirements. Your application will not be progressed if the information and evidence listed is not provided.

With your online application you will need to provide:

A copy of your degree certificate and transcripts which show you have achieved a 2:2 honours degree in economics or a related subject, or an equivalent international degree. If your degree certificate or result is pending, please upload any interim transcripts or provisional certificates.
A copy of your IELTS certificate with an overall score of 6.5 with 5.5 in all subskills, or evidence of an accepted equivalent. Please include the date of your expected test if this qualification is pending. If you have alternative acceptable evidence, such as an undergraduate degree studied in the UK, please supply this in place of an IELTS.
