PG Cert Interpersonal & Counselling Skills

  • DeadlineStudy Details:

    PgCert: 1 year part-time

Course Description

We have developed a course that allows you to enter this rewarding field if you have little or no background in interpersonal and counselling practice. You’ll enhance your understanding of issues such as social and cultural difference and diverse values, and analyse ethical dilemmas found in the profession. This will give you the ability to work effectively and sensitively with the beliefs and attitudes of a variety of clients. You’ll also take a self-reflective approach, exploring your own feelings, attitudes and personal relational issues.

Entry Requirements

Applicants should normally have at least a second-class honours degree and will have completed a face-to-face short course in Counselling Skills (at least 12 hours study). If you have not already undertaken relevant training, we will be running Counselling Skills Introduction courses on 9th and 10th May or 11th and 12th September. You can book onto one of these two day courses on our website at the following link

All suitable candidates will be required to attend an interview as part of the selection process. All applications should be supported by a reference, either academic or professional.  All applicants should satisfy our University English language requirements.

Satisfactory enhanced criminal history checks will be required by all applicants prior to acceptance on the course. The DBS in the UK is currently not able to conduct overseas criminal record checks. International applicants, those without British Citizenship and British Citizens with a significant period of overseas residency therefore require a criminal records check or certificate of good conduct from their home/overseas country prior to entry on to the course. A UK DBS check will be required after enrolment.
