Course Description

As increasing significance is attached to both achieving lifelong physical activity targets and improved progression of talented athletes through to elite status, the necessity for highly qualified coaches and coaching for children and talented performers has never been greater. With an active passion for coaching, our course will allow you to focus on specific areas that interest you. You will be able to direct your learning towards your chosen coaching career goal from the very beginning, matching learning and assessment to the demands of your coaching. Through working with staff, participants and your peers, you will explore, bringing structure and add depth to your existing knowledge and skills. Making and defending your own professional judgements will enable you to plan, deliver and evaluate long term coaching programmes that consider the developmental needs of your participants. Through the course you will compare, contrast and integrate theories and ideas from a range of disciplines such as talent development, sport psychology, physiology and expertise with your own ideas and practice. We use some of the most advanced teaching, work-based learning and assessment approaches, which are informed by our pioneering research within this field. Informed by expert coaches and developers, we will help you transfer the ideas and knowledge you learn on the course into practice. Sport & Active Lifestyles At Leeds Beckett we’re passionate about sport.
