Course Description

We have designed this course for people looking to progress further, or begin a career in marketing. Whether you are a recent graduate or already work in a marketing position, our course will give you the chance to build on your existing knowledge and move your career forward.

You will develop a keen understanding of consumer behaviour, exploring segmentation, targeting and positioning, and how communications and branding can achieve marketing success. You will also appreciate the key theories and ideas behind marketing strategies. We are committed to offering you practical, hands-on experience in the industry and that’s why we provide you with opportunities to get involved in live consultancy projects for regional organisations. This is a chance to apply the skills you are learning in the workplace and give your CV a competitive edge.

If you already hold a CIM Professional Postgraduate Diploma and Postgraduate Diploma qualification you may claim exemption or be given Accredited Prior Learning from elements of the course.

Entry Requirements

Applicants should either have at least a second class honours degree or have equivalent experience or training, normally from within the work environment. All applications should be supported by a reference, either academic or professional; all applicants should satisfy our University English language requirements – IELTS 6.5 with no skills below 5.5, or an equivalent qualification. The University provides excellent support for any applicant who may be required to undertake additional English language courses.

Module Details

Become equipped with the necessary frameworks to critically assess and analyse consumption decisions of different target segments.

Develop the knowledge and competencies required to act as an effective marketing manager. You’ll look at staff management and development, team building, information systems, management of external suppliers, and performance measurement and analysis.

Gain the knowledge and an understanding of the way in which marketing communications strategy melds with branding principles.

Gain an appreciation of the key strategic tools, an overview of brand strategy and online strategies used by managers to assess their company market environment and achieve a competitive advantage.

You will carry out an in-depth research project in a subject area that is appropriate to the course and of particular interest to you.
