“When you choose a masters course that you enjoy, at an institution that delivers it at an amazing quality, you naturally become motivated, driven and excited to learn.”

I had already completed an MEng in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Surrey and throughout the years I discovered a hidden managerial ability within myself. I thoroughly enjoyed learning about a project’s big picture and connecting the dots between different parts of a project. I chose air transport management because the aviation industry is an extremely exciting environment. I chose Surrey because of its well-rounded course and capabilities that aren’t found anywhere else, such as their subscription to top-tier industry level databases such as OAG, Sabre MIDT and Cirium.

I chose this course simply because of the nature of air transport management and its global connectivity. It encourages you to learn about different countries, cities, people and cultures. There is a new story every day and if you’ve got an adventurous, global, problem-solving mindset, then air transport management is fuel to your fire.

The course always involves complex multivariable problems that involve areas such as: geography, politics, economics, law, finance, passenger psychology, tourism and infrastructure, to name a few. There is a different problem every day. I have never enjoyed anything as much as air transport management.

The staff are incredible – Programme Leader, Dr Frankie O’Connell is an extremely knowledgeable industry expert and all the academics are passionate about what they do.

I live in Cathedral Court and it was my favourite place of residence. It is calm, clean, quiet and 5 minutes away from any lecture theatre. It is also a 10-minute walk away from Tesco and a 15-minute walk away from the train station.

“Guildford is a beautiful and safe place to live, with lots of natural beauty around it. The University has a plethora of societies, from chess to dance to wakeboarding. Guildford is a lovely, cosy place and your time spent at Surrey will be unforgettable.”

Achieving some of the highest grades in my class by using my undergraduate skills and adapting them to air transport management to achieve great results.

I plan to go straight into work hopefully. I am very excited to work in this field and the lecturers are happy to help you with career advice and guidance. There is ample opportunity if you look for it
