More about Clarisa

What did you enjoy most about your course at NTU?

“What I enjoyed most was the multidisciplinary nature of the course. Being able to work with students from other areas, like those specialising in medical or smart design, was challenging, but at the same time helped me think about aspects of design that I would not have considered otherwise.

What do you think about the course staff?

“The tutors and lecturers are probably one of the best parts of the course. I came across amazing people, super approachable and open to listen and adapt their ways of teaching to suit the students. The technicians are the best, super knowledgeable and funny, always willing to help you achieve your goals for the course.

What was your experience of facilities on your course?

“We had our own studio, which made group meetings and the learning experience in general much more comfortable, as we always had a place where we could work. The library has pretty much all you need, and the fact that is open 24/7 during undergraduate term time is great for all-nighters! As a whole, I’ve been more than happy with the University’s facilities.

In a nutshell, why would you recommend your course?

“The tutors from the course are amazing. Make sure to go to the workshops and have a chat with the technicians there, as they are great and so helpful! Also, the multidisciplinary nature of the course allowed me to meet lots of different people from all over the world, and make friends easily. The trips organised by our course leaders were an incredible learning experience and a chance to know new places!

How do you think a postgraduate qualification will benefit you with regards to graduate employment?

“I think it’s key if you are interested in starting a job in a big company in the UK or other country, but I don’t think it’s about that at all. I believe the experience I gained from the course, and also from living in the UK is the most important thing I got from this year at NTU. So even if you want to be an independent designer, and not join any big companies after graduation, what you learn from the course will definitely be key in achieving that too.

As an international student, what do you like about studying and living in Nottingham?

“The city is great for any student, it offers a wide range of activities that would suit both an introvert and a party animal. It’s quite affordable to live and rent a room here, and with the city’s location, you can make short trips all around the UK while you are studying, which is a plus for any international students wanting to experience more of the country.”
