What do you enjoy most about your course at NTU?

“The support in terms of infrastructure (library, software applications and information), and the in-depth and applicable knowledge of teaching staff. The international field trip to Prague to study their planning processes and construction methods was also good. I learnt a lot from the industry professionals we met.”

What made you choose to study your postgraduate degree at NTU?

“The fact that the course is RICS accredited. NTU is also ranked highly, and regarded as one of the best. With a high rate of students gaining employment in the UK and international construction companies whilst studying and after graduating, it was an easy choice. The course structure is practical; it prepares students for employment.”

What do you think about the course staff?

“There was never a single second during my studies that I felt academically in need. Course staff including lecturers, tutors, administrators and technical staff provided me with all the learning materials I needed. Concepts were explained using industry experience and knowledge.”

What do you think about the facilities available to you?

“Workshops after lectures provided the perfect moment to clear all doubts and questions. The 24-7 library and lecture theatres provide the best learning and research support both on and off campus.”

Can you tell us about your dissertation?

“One of the main duties of a quantity surveyor is to find the balance between cost and quality of a construction project. My idea was to identify, via secondary data, and test critical success factors that determines a project’s success and how it affects cost, time and quality. The modules on this course introduced me to the concept of cost, time and quality. With the help of tools such as NOW, various software, databases, library technical staff and my supervisor, we were able to complete and submit as per required.”

“You will get continuous study support in terms of professional databases, software, books and industry-based lectures. What advantages do you think having a postgraduate qualification will give you in regards to employment after graduation?

“This has given me the chance to improve my professional and academic prospects in surveying and cost management. This qualification has offered me a route into chartered surveying since I had my first degree in computer science.”

How did you find out about the international scholarship, and how did you feel when you won it?

“I found out about the scholarship on the NTU website. I felt relieved – the scholarship amount was used as part of my maintenance fees.”
