MSc Advanced Clinical Practice

Qualifications or experience

A second-class honours degree, or equivalent, in a relevant subject or a master’s degree in an appropriate subject. Applicants should be professionally practising in an environment where there is an identified need for the individual to be an advanced practitioner. Exceptionally, equivalent professional experience and/or qualifications will be considered. Applicants are required to have 3 years post-registration work experience in a relevant area. Applicants must also have support of a line manager and clinical supervisor and current registration with a relevant professional body (NMC or HCPC). All applicants will be invited to attend an interview. This course is for UK based staff only.

• English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 7.0 (or equivalent) with no component score below 7.0.

Year 1

• Advanced Clinical Reasoning, Decision Making and Diagnostics – 15 credits
• Principles of Advanced Clinical Practice – 15 credits
• History Taking and Physical Assessment for Advanced Clinical Practice including Pathophysiology – 30 credits

• Evidence Based Practice at Advanced Level – 15 credits

Optional modules in this year include:

• Advanced Practice in Urgent and Emergency Settings – 15 credits
• Dementia in Health and Social Care – 15 credits
• Prescribing for Nursing (Independent and Supplementary) – 30 credits
• Supporting  Advancing Practice in Mental Health – 15 credits
• Young People in Crisis – 15 credits

Year 3

Core modules in this year include:

• Health  Improvement Project – 15 credits
• Transition to advanced clinical practice  – 45 credits
